Teaching Kids About Trust

Trust is a valuable trait to develop in your children.  It has a number of meanings but the definitions that come most readily to my mind are reliability and integrity.  When we say we trust someone, what are the traits we see in them?

Perhaps it is faithfulness, loyalty and truthfulness.  When infants are born, trust is developed through their needs being met in a caring and timely manner.  Constancy of care and a calm environment creates a sense of trust in the provider of that care.  If the care provider did not meet the infant’s needs in a consistent manner then the child would become insecure and trust would exist.

There are a number of things that will endanger or break a child’s trust.
