This topic looks at possible causes for misbehavior. Here are just some of them:

• lack of parental direction – lack of family structure and values
• parental indulgence – little or no discipline, poor role modeling, no training, stuff replacing parents time

• parental inconsistencies – in role modeling, discipline, child favoritism
• physical/emotional disability – e.g. when child has difficulty grasping instruction or when parent cannot supply appropriate parenting

• environmental factors and events – e.g. divorce, military deployment, fear
