Maintaining A Strong Faith For Todays Society
Teens

How do the Godly principles we instill in our kids at home stick when they are away from our parental influence?  The most important thing for kids to realize is why these principles are important, not only to the family, but also to themselves.  As long as kids think they only have to abide by them because ‘Dad said so’, they will only be responding because of the negative consequence for non-compliance.  Kids will often comply with your standards until the day they are challenged about their values by other teenagers who have been raised differently.  Kids start to question these principles, and unless they have personal conviction, or have internalized the principles, and can see that they are a form of protection, they will often waiver and just go with the flow.

This topic explores ways of helping kids to mature in their faith enough to be able to stand strong when others’ beliefs are different.
