Bullying
Managing and Changing Established Behaviors

What is Bullying?
Bullying happens whenever someone uses his or her power unfairly and repeatedly to hurt another person.  This may occur in the form of:

    • physical bullying – harm to another’s body or property e.g. pushing, kicking, hitting or breaking
    • emotional bullying – harm to another’s self-worth e.g. being called names, teased, or verbally put down alone or in front of others, being stood over, or glared at in a threatening manner
    • social bullying – harm to another’s group acceptance - being deliberately left out of a group, not chosen to play games, public humiliation

Bullies are found in all walks of life and all age groups. Bullies can be kids, laborers, teachers, office workers, and company CEO’s.

This topic discusses how to recognize a bully, how to discourage bullying in your own home, and how to teach your kids what to do in bullying situations.
