Anger Management For Military Teens |

Training for Military Parents

Numerous research abstracts report that teenagers of military personnel display a higher incidence of anger than their civilian counterparts. Why is this? Kids are never sure whether their parent is coming back. Parents may put too great a responsibility on the teen during deployment. Suddenly the teen has to be ‘Dad’ and this is not a reasonable expectation. Teens are often uprooted from one place to another and can never establish long-term relationships with their peers. Teens object to the militant or autocratic approach to parenting that their military parent may display. This topic looks at the causes and effects and suggests ways to prevent or alleviate situations that cause anger in teens.
