Reconnecting With Family - The Soldier Comes Home
Training for Military Parents

You closed ranks after your spouse was deployed.  You took on the burden of trying to be both parents.  You think you have done reasonably well without your spouse, considering everything.  You have made new friends and are into new activities.  You redecorated the house.  Your kids are a year older and you may even have a child that your spouse has never seen.  You are afraid your spouse won’t be the same person, and neither might you be.  How can you and your children create a smooth transition back to the family you were before they left?  The truth is that you won’t be the same.  In fact, no person is the same a year later because of the experiences, skills and knowledge they have learned in between times.  For a military family, those experiences are even more extreme.

This topic deals with attitude adjustments for all family members.  A smooth transition is achievable, but it takes understanding from every family member.
